54 miles of pure unadulterated Agony.
Open Agency rebranded themselves 'Open Agony' as they successfully completed one of the toughest endurance events in the country. As more than just a sadistic way of 'celebrating' the company's 25th year they also raised £3000 for the Scottish Community Foundation in the process.
The infamous RBS Caledonian Challenge is a non-stop double marathon walk over the rugged terrain of the Scottish Highlands, climbing a total of 9000 feet. The Open Agency team which included Martyn Routledge (Creative Director), Cat Townsend (Designer), Emma Bacon (Account Handler) and 'honorary opener' Jayne Shawcross (a client from Post Office) - completed the challenge in 26 hours, and just about survived to tell the tale.
Aided by their support team of Mike and Suzie Horseman (MD and wife) in their customized Porsche, the team attracted attention at all the checkpoints and were unofficially awarded the prize for best support vehicle.
As the miles wore on, only the thought of a bacon sandwich and a beer could keep them putting one foot in front of the other. And as they staggered over the finishing line the team unveiled their flag which summed up their feelings perfectly and was greeted with a roar of approval from the waiting crowd.
Having survived the swarms of midges, sleep deprivation, several wrong turns, and worst of all, the girls singing - Martyn Routledge had just one thing to say "It was the worst Hen night I've ever been on. Never Again!"
